Jill is a medium-sized, female heading-eye-dog, aged 12 years old.
An ex-trial dog Jill is perfectly trained to go left, right, walk up and get in, instantly on command. She is very timid (there may have been some abuse in her past) and is not what you call a strong dog, but for me herding a small flock of wiltshires she was perfect – would bring the sheep up to me each morning so I could check them all.
She is quiet and steady and smart and even if you don’t know how to work a dog, show her the gate and show her the sheep and she’ll do the job.
Her previous owner said she would for him, but she never wanted to work my stroppy nurse cows.
Is Jill used to cats? Yes.
Is Jill toilet-trained? Yes.
Is Jill used to stock? Yes.
Is Jill used to chickens? Yes.
How well does Jill get on with other dogs? Great.
Jill lives in Matamata, North Island.
A bit about Jill’s personality:
Quiet and timid, it Jill took a while to bond with me but now she is the sort of dog who quiety comes up and lays her head on your knee for a pat – for as long as you will pat her.
She is scared of any sharp noise, and doesn’t like metal bowls (previous abuse?) but loves the quad bike. Will sit on the tray all day, sleep there at night and sticks to it like glue no matter how hard you ride. She sits up like the queen being chauffeured.
I recently took her to the vet for check up. She has a bad canine tooth, but the vet said this is not causing her any pain or discomfort. And then told me she has a heart murmur. For this reason I do not think she would be good over long distances, but on my little lifestyle block it was never an issue.
She plays with my little terrier, is fine around all other animals, comes to you in the evening for her coat to be put on, eats anything (but prefers fresh meat), has never been tied up and does not need to be fenced in – she never wanders. She is a great companion who deserves a good home.
