About Lexi:

Lexi is a medium-sized, female Kelpie, 7 years old.

Description:

Lexi is a lovely dog – but she’s just not getting on with our three-year-old son or our chickens. He’s non-verbal and quite rough around her and we are at a loss as to get him to be gentle.

She’s snapped at him twice now  and keeping them separated while trying to do stuff around out lifestyle block has been very stressful and near impossible, given her desire to be close to people.

On Saturday she attacked one of our young pullets… This is the second chicken. The first we weren’t near when it happened, so we didn’t want to think it was something she could actually do… but now that I’ve seen it happen, I’m convinced she was responsible for the first also.

We don’t have the time to put in the training to fix this issue and we feel it is more fair to her to find a home where she isn’t having to deal with a rowdy toddler or tempting pullets. She’ll be 8 in August.

She’s okay with older children. We have goats and she’s okay around them. We have two cats, one she gets on with fine, the other she doesn’t like. I’m not sure what she’d be like around other stock animals. She gets on with other dogs fine.
