Spy is a medium-sized, male heading-dog, aged 12 years old.
Spy’s previous life was spent on a 2000ha property as the mainstay heading dog. Strangely for an eye dog he only has one eye. Apparently this is from when he was a young dog & was attacked by another dog, he also lost a few teeth, but this doesn’t seem to bother him now. We got him last year with the idea that he would be happier in semi-retirement, sadly he has other ideas and he thinks he would be more suited to FULL retirement. But having said that, he does try to keep up with the other dogs, which is really too much for him. We feel that he would be best suited living out his retirement on a lifestyle block, where he isn’t constantly reminded that he can’t keep up anymore. Is Spy used to children? Yes.
Is Spy used to cats? Don’t know.
Is Spy toilet-trained? No.
Is Spy used to stock? Yes.
Is Spy used to chickens? Yes.
How well does Spy get on with other dogs? Great.
Spy lives in Pokeno or Ngatea, North Island.
A bit about Spy’s personality:
Spy is a really sweet dog and loves pats. He can be a bit timid, but a little reassurance and he’s much braver. He gets on with other dogs well and had no problem introducing him to our other dogs when we got him. He will get on the back of the ATV, but usually jumps straight off again when the other dogs run off. He has spent his life in kennels so, at least initially, he would be more comfortable in a kennel.
