About Shine:
Shine is a large, female Huntaway, aged 5 years old.
Description:It is with great sadness that we have to rehome this sweet girl. She is a failed working dog, we adopted her over 2 years ago, from a farmer here on RWD as a failed working dog. She’s a gentle soul and is still a fearful dog, at times. But over the time we have had her she has come a long way in learning to trust visitors and other dogs, after her initial “doorbell protocol”.
She will need a well fenced home, especially at first, but is now totally fine at ours with the gate open (she’s more concerned about people coming in than ever wanting to get out). She needs space to run about and keeps the bunnies out of our semi rural section. Knows what “where’s the bunny?” means, and hoons off at top speed to chase them off the property.
Is Shine used to cats? Don’t know.
Is Shine toilet-trained? Yes.
Is Shine used to stock? Yes.
Is Shine used to chickens? Yes.
How well does Shine get on with other dogs? OK.
Shine lives in Greytown, North Island.
A bit about Shine’s personality:
Shine is very loyal and equally goofy. She loves going for walks and is pretty good on the lead, but loves being off lead. She is wary of small dogs and is building confidence much more easily with medium to large dogs. She has massive paws and likes to sometimes give pats and delicate kisses.
She currently lives with another dog, who has already been rehomed. She’d love another medium-large breed dog to live and play with. She’s been 100% wonderful with our school-aged children. We don’t have experience of her living with cats and she didn’t bother our chickens, but was a cheeky girl and snuck into the run a few times to get their scraps!
She has a wonderful huntaway bark, and understands the command “quiet”… and will do her best to comply, unless she’s excited about a walk! She loves to “talk” and loves to have a chat but she won’t “shout“ indoors.
We’re happy to arrange/host visits in Wairarapa.
