While each dog and its situation varies, in general, we try to follow the following process when adopting a dog out:
Dogs that come into our care are vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, de-sexed and registered. We undertake behavioural assessments wherever possible.
When an application to adopt a dog is received, we call the interested person and talk about what we know about the dog and decide with the applicant if that dog may be suitable for them. If so, we will then arrange a call to the person who is currently caring for the dog so that you can meet the dog.
Before an adoption goes ahead, we like to undertake a property inspection. The dog is then taken on trial for a month or so. If the adoption is unsuccessful, or the situation changes, we are always happy to take a dog back that we have adopted out.
We do charge an adoption fee to contribute towards the cost of each dog’s vet bills and food.
