About Rex:

Rex is a large, male Bearded Collie X, aged 5 years old.

Description:

Heartbroken we are looking for a forever home for Rex due to us moving to Europe.

Rex is our much loved Labrador – Bearded Collie cross. Both his parents have been working dogs. He will be 5 years old in October. He is neutered.
Rex is the first dog we ever owned. He is a farm/family dog. He grew up around 3 kids, chicken and a cat (the cat was clearly the boss as she didnt take his nonsense #clawsforthewin)

Is Rex used to children? Yes.
Is Rex used to cats? No.
Is Rex toilet-trained? Yes.
Is Rex used to stock? Don’t know.
Is Rex used to chickens? No.
How well does Rex get on with other dogs? OK.
Rex lives in Kaiapoi, .
A bit about Rex’s personality:

Rex can sit and wait (for his food). He thinks coming back when called is optional. If he smells or sees anything more interesting than us then he might decide not to come when called.
We walk him off and on leash regularly but he can be quite a puller on leash. He LOVES to run and chase pigeons and ducks off the paddocks. He also sniffs out possums and hares. He will need to be on a fully fenced property.

He has a protective nature when it comes to food or his people. He doesn’t like to share his family with other dogs. But does get along well with the working dogs on the farm. We have also stopped giving him bones as he goes and buries them in the garden.

When Rex was young he had to have eyedrops at the Vets and has been absolutely terrified of the Vets since which results in him not coping at the vets at all with growling and signs of aggression (no biting history).
Due to this Rex would be best off with a more experienced dog owner. He is used to farm life and big walks/runs daily.
