About Jock:

Jock is a large, male Huntaway, aged 8 years old.

Description:

Looking at temporarily, potentially permanently, re-homing my huntaway Jock, he just turned 8 at the start of April.

I’m looking at heading overseas towards/at the end of winter and am just putting my feelers out there to get some good candidates with amazing homes for my 2 older boys I’ll be looking at rehoming. I have had both of them since they were 3 months old and I cannot bear to sell them as I am all they have known.

Jock will need to go somewhere where he will get work, not a huge amount of work but enough to kind of knock the boredom out of him. Since Jock is getting older, he is starting to get a bit of arthritis (which shows itself when he is worked too hard). As part of this rehoming, you would be required to upkeep Jocks arthritis injection ($45 a month I pay at my vets) to help with it.
Jock also has had flare ups of laryngitis when he musters long/rank grass where he seems to take a deep raspy breath between barks, steroids and anti-inflammatories from the vet is required when this happens.
It doesn’t affect him at all but thought I should disclose that Jock has also suffered from facial paralysis (which the vets can’t diagnose why), you will see in his photo that his lip and ear on one side are lopsided. He still has feeling there but not 100%.

Now I look back this description sounds like a lot to another person, but it’s really not. I manage it easy and I also have 9 other dogs.

Jock is one of my best mates and it’s a really hard decision to let him go but I know that there could be an amazing home out there for him to be treated like a king. Reason for saying temp/permanent rehoming is I’m unsure if I will get back farming when I get back.

A bit about Jock’s personality:

Jock is a friendly boy who loves a good cuddle. He is a bit of an alpha so bars up at other dogs easy that annoy him. I would describe him as an old soul.

Jock has been inside when he hasn’t been feeling well, he has never gone to the toilet inside but probably hasn’t had enough exposure to 100% know whether he’s toilet trained or not
