About Duke:
Duke is a medium-sized, male Blue Heeler, 1 year old.
Description:Duke is believed to be approximately a year old. He is believed to have had a rough start in life (kept caged) before he came to our family 6 months ago. He is a beautiful dog but has some anxiety and for some reason hasn’t been able to completely settle and is still very wary of our 15y-year-old son. He isn’t good with chickens but co-exists with our adult cat (they avoid each other). He has shown a keenness to work the stock on our large lifestyle block but needs training by someone with time and experience. He is house and crate trained, doesn’t bark and is generally very good on the lead.
Is Duke used to children? Yes.Is Duke used to cats? Yes.
Is Duke toilet-trained? Yes.

How well does Duke get on with other dogs? Great.
Duke lives in New Plymouth.
A bit about Duke’s personality:
Duke is a gentle and kind natured dog with plenty of love but due to an unknown past is anxious and timid, particularly around certain people. He isn’t aggressive towards other dogs (in fact he is quite submissive) and he gets in well with our elderly Lab. He loves the water and swimming and loves exercise. He has a very tight bond with the mum of the household. He would be best suited to a full-time farm position with someone with the time to train him or with a single person or couple into fitness as a running companion. He will make a very lovely pet for someone for years to come but unfortunately we just don’t have the time to put into him at present and feel someone else could give him a more well suited lifestyle.
