Meet Benny – a thoughtful, loyal lad ready for his forever home.

Benny is a 2-year-old male Kelpie cross Beardie with a stunning, shiny black coat and beautiful tan markings — very handsome, and he knows how to turn heads. But it’s his nature that really wins you over. Benny is a kind, gentle wee soul who enjoys a good brush, loves human company, and has a calm, considered way of moving through the world.
Benny doesn’t rush into things. He’s the type to assess a situation before jumping in — if the pack takes off running, he’ll hang back, decide if it’s worth the effort… and then join in once he’s happy. It’s a smart, thoughtful trait that makes us wonder if there’s a working dog brain ticking away, just waiting for the right job to focus on.


He walks beautifully on the lead, has good recall, and enjoys all toys — especially balls. He’s clever too: if you pick the toys up, Benny will quietly grab them back out again so he can play on his own. It’s genuinely adorable. He’s patient, polite with other dogs, and not puppy-mad at all — just courteous and calm. 


Benny plays well with other dogs and would really appreciate having an older, wise canine companion to learn from. He has really flourished being in a pack. He’s crate-trained and happily uses it for a snooze it is also his safe space. 
Recently, Benny was taken to the river with lots of people and dogs around — no drama whatsoever. He’s also been out on group walks. At first, he was nervous, and when overwhelmed he chose a sensible strategy: run and hide under a ute where it was cooler and safe. Fast forward, and now he’s fully part of the gang, with an older dog being his bestie.


If Benny is going to be a pet, he will form a strong, devoted bond with his person — he truly just wants to please. With his intelligence, calm nature, and thoughtful approach, he may also suit a home interested in exploring working potential or giving him a meaningful task.


Benny is one of those dogs who makes you smile — and laugh — every single day. You really just have to meet him.

Benny has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and is currently registered.

He has an adoption fee of $350 and, as with all of our foster dogs, we’ll require a vet reference and property inspection prior to adoption.
