About Gemma (Gem):
Gemma (Gem) is a medium-sized, female, Heading Dog X puppy, aged 5 months.
Description:Gem is a five-month-old puppy with a bright, curious nature and a strong attachment to her people. She is currently developing her confidence in a new environment following a recent relocation. Gem came from a farm in Taupō, her original owner had intended for her to be a working dog. Her parents were working dogs, although I’m not 100% certain of her breed mix. That said, from her temperament and personality, she’s much more suited to being a family/companion dog in my opinion. She’s excellent with kids, affectionate, people-focused and thrives on being around humans.
Gem is energetic and playful when well-rested, particularly enjoying interactive toys and enrichment activities, but like many puppies her age, she can become mouthy or over-stimulated when overtired.
She responds well to calm structure and benefits from predictable routines, especially around rest and toileting. Despite recent changes — including travel, vaccinations and crate training — she has remained engaged, active, and responsive throughout the day. Gem is in an important developmental phase, learning self-regulation and building positive habits, and shows clear signs of progress when given consistent guidance and adequate rest.
She is, in short, a young dog navigating growth, change and learning with typical puppy enthusiasm and sensitivity.

A bit about Gemma (Gem)’s personality:
Gem has a lively, affectionate personality and a strong desire to be close to her people. She is naturally curious and observant, taking in new environments with interest while still seeking reassurance from familiar faces. When she feels secure, she is playful and expressive, engaging enthusiastically with toys and interactive play.
She demonstrates a sensitive temperament, responding noticeably to changes in routine or surroundings. This sensitivity is paired with intelligence; she is quick to form associations and shows clear understanding when boundaries and expectations are consistent. At times, particularly when overtired or overstimulated, her energy can tip into excitable, mouthy behaviour — a reflection of her developmental stage rather than her disposition.
Overall, Gem presents as a warm, spirited and people-oriented young dog who thrives with structure, calm leadership and predictable routines. Her personality combines enthusiasm with sensitivity, suggesting she will mature into a responsive and devoted companion.
