Chub’s parents were both outstanding working dogs on a hill country farm in the Ure Valley. He’s intelligent, eager to please, and thrives on interaction and positive attention. With the right home, he’ll make a loyal and devoted companion who will happily be by your side through every adventure. His friendly nature and zest for life make him a joy to be around, and he’s sure to bring plenty of smiles to his new family. More on Chubs History:

His owner, my nephew Dave, was diagnosed with cancer. While he was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment, his wife didn’t realise their bitch was on heat. By the time the puppies were born, Dave’s health had deteriorated, and his wife simply didn’t have the heart to deal with raising a litter. Sadly, Dave passed away just a few weeks later.

At the time, I was living on a lifestyle block with sheep, so I took all four puppies home with me. I was fortunate to find wonderful homes for the other three, but I decided to keep Chub.

I’m now moving to a suburban property, and it just wouldn’t be the right environment for him. He has a very natural instinct for working sheep and has shown plenty of ability, although his training has been limited due to only having around 20 sheep here. He’s incredibly keen, energetic, and always eager to work.

One thing to be aware of is that he will chase hens. I don’t keep any, so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but it’s something any new owner should know and be prepared to manage.
