Moss is a very special dog, who is looking for an equally special home.
Born and bred as a working dog, Moss’s career has been his passion. Unfortunately, 3 years ago Moss started going blind, and his sight has progressively deteriorated to the point where he can no longer do what he loves best. Because he is unhappy being left behind, his owners have decided a new home would be the kindest thing for him.
Moss is an 8 year old male border collie, from working lines. The cause of his blindness is unknown, his vets have said possibly it is genetic. He can still see some light and dark, and copes incredibly well once he has mapped his area. Obviously, if someone happens to leave a bucket lying around where it isn’t usually, he will bump into it. Apart from not being able to work, Moss is still a happy and healthy dog, loves people and is a real smoocher. He’s great with kids and enjoys their attention (although kids should always be watched as he can’t see them), fine with cats, chickens, turkeys and most other dogs. He can be a bit of a “big man” around other male dogs, possibly as he is still entire.
Moss would love to find a home where he has company, he’d make a great Ute or truck companion, but he does need to be watched around moving vehicles. He loves people and would happily follow you all day.
New owners must be prepared to spend time introducing Moss to his new environment, so that he can establish a map for himself.
Moss is up to date with vaccinations, worming and flea treatments.
