Ash is a large, male Kelpie, aged 2 years old.

Working Home Needed: Exceptional 2 year old Kelpie

We are looking for a genuine, active working home for a beautiful 2-year-old Kelpie/Collie mix. He has an immense drive to work and desperately needs a farming job to be happy.
We rescued him from a bad situation where he wasn’t wanted, but now realise our stock-free property cannot satisfy his deep genetic need to work. We would like for him to go to a farm where he can be worked, treated well, and live out his purpose.

THE GOOD: Incredibly clever, eager to please, and shows great natural focus. He already sits on command and wants to obey. He shows no aggression at all towards other dogs or people.
THE DRIVE: He has a high need to herd. He currently tries to herd our small dogs because we have no stock, and he slips away to watch the near neighbours cattle. His work drive is so high he will prioritise being near stock over coming home for dinner, sometime for two days. He is definitely not being fed somewhere else or killing anything. He just wants to be with the cattle and some sheep.
NOTES: He does not like water (won’t go in our river) and is currently fully “green” / untrained on formal stock commands, but the raw talent and desire are 100% there. He is neutered and had his shots.

Please contact me if you are a farmer, shepherd, or triallist who has the time to channel this boy’s incredible potential. We are happy for him to be assessed and to take him back if he is unable to be trained. Based in Northern Kaipara.
