About Beau:

Beau is a medium-sized, male Heading Dog, aged 6 years old.

Description:

Beau is looking for the perfect new home to live out the rest of his years. He is an extremely high energy, very active dog! Beau is healthy and has had no health issues or injuries to date. He is a thin build and struggles to gain weight even given the best quality working dog biscuits most likely due to his very busy active nature. He has been a much loved working sheep dog but unfortunately hasn’t had the best training to go with his extremely strong will to work. Its almost like Beau has ADHD; he is always super alert with a very bouncy energy to him making him to quick and active for the slow sheep work. Therefore wont be suitable to continue working but would make for the most loyal, friendly, loving, active pet. He has always had an very natural strong eye for stock so would be best away from stock or else he will want to head them up and down the paddocks all day or sit eyeing them up through the fence. Stock work / heading stock is his natural behaviour. He will not bite or harm sheep at all but is best to avoid stock so he can relax and enjoy retirement. A lifestyle block or large section where he has plenty of space to run and relax would be ideal. He is a great running and walking dog and enjoys running ahead and coming back/ being called back (not trained on a lead though). He is great with kids and all pets. He has been trained to stay outside of house section and roam the farm work yards/sheds without leaving that area and without being watched. He has been brought up around other working dogs. He does not start dog fights but unfortunately he has been targeted and attacked many times due to his fast active running and bouncy behaviour, the other dogs get annoyed at him I have noticed. He sleeps in a kennel with a run attached. I am really hoping he can go to a family that will allow him to be his very active friendly self and get the attention and exercise he requires. Beau will also happily laze about in the sun on the lawn / yard for hours on end and be there with you for all outside jobs. He is one very happy dog! He is not a needy dog but does enjoy pats and attention if given. I am happy to take Beau back if he does not end up suiting his new home as I want him and his new owners to be happy.
