About Blue:

Blue is a large, female Heading Dog, aged 5 years old.

Description:

We are considering re-homing our lovely girl Blue, an almost 5 year old Heading dog.
She is desexed, chipped, up to date with vaccinations and has had no health issues.
She was born on a farm but never trained up, we adopted her at 2 and she has been a family pet since.
Blue is well trained with great recall.
She is very tolerant with our 2 year old but she would prefer to be with older or no kids.
She hasn’t been around cats. I think she would thrive living with another dog. She generally plays well with all dogs (unless there’s a ball around, then she has no interest). She can get a bit herdy during play which more nervous dogs can find a bit intimidating at times.
She is crate trained. She is used to having someone home at least some of the day.
We are unfortunately considering re-homing Blue because we are heading overseas for 3.5 months in August and have had our 3 dog sitting options all fall through. It’s likely we will be going away for a few months at a time every couple of years, so we’ve realized that probably the kindest thing for Blue is to find her a great new home.
Blue is currently based in Dunedin but we can arrange to bring her elsewhere in NZ if needed.

A bit about Blue’s personality:

She’s a gentle, friendly girl who is pretty relaxed for a working breed. She can be nervous with new people and new environments but once she gets comfortable is affectionate and loyal.
She loves bush walks, the beach and throwing a ball to herself. She does agility currently and has potential to be a good competitor if that was continued.
