About Buster:
Buster is a medium-sized, male Huntaway, aged 5 years old.
Description:Hi, I’m Buster. I’m a 5-year-old handsome huntaway, living in Taihape.
First thing in the morning, I do a little happy dance!
Then I jump all over you with excitement.
I can’t help it. Life’s great!
Attention, a good paw shake, plenty of pats and I’m a happy lad!
Sadly, due to severe arthritis in both my elbows, I’ve had to retire early from my work.
I likely had hip dysplasia in puppyhood, due to a genetic issue.
The good news is I’ll be fine with a slower pace and some light exercise.
My farmer had no intention of saying goodbye. She thinks I’m great and loves having my company through her days.
Sadly though, I do find it a struggle – seeing the rest of the team head off to work each day.
So, she’s hoping to find me a loving pet home – where I can be a part of things and not feel so left out of the action.
It’s heartbreaking being round all those things I love – like the quad bike.
I want to jump on it but it hurts my joints too much.
My farmer thinks I’d be happy with a big flat yard to mosey round in.
I currently live on a farm filled with steep hills, which makes things hard for me.
And she thinks I’d even settle well into a town home.
To keep me healthy and happy, I just need to be kept lean, with some pain relief and joint supplements – and I’m good to go!
All I really need in a day, exercise-wise, is a half hour walk, then I’m happy just to chill out.
I’m quite partial to swimming in the nearby dam, so I’d love to find a place near water. Swimming is so great for my joints!
My farmer thinks I’d be happiest as a solo dog but I’d also be okay sharing my home with a cruisy one too.
I tend to enjoy being the natural leader – just so you know.
I could share my home with a cat too! I’m not too worried about the felines.
I just let them go their way and I go mine.
And you know what? I’m not even a territorial guy.
I’m great with people. When strangers come to my home, I just give them a sniff to suss them out.
My farmer feels sad to be saying goodbye but she knows a new environment, without the temptation to be involved in work, would be best for me.
So, if you’re looking for a loving playful man – that asks for very little in life – remember the name Buster!
