About Chase:

Chase is a large, male Huntaway, aged 11 years old.

Description:

We took Chase in about 2 years ago as he was slowing down on the farm he was working on. He has done a bit of work for us but has mainly just be cruising around enjoying retirement. However he would not give up the opportunity to help shift some cattle.

He is a big softy who loves a cuddle, lying in the sun and loves to come inside every now and then for a supervised snooze (he is not toilet trained but I just keep an eye on him and have never had any issues)

He is great with kids, shows no interest in cats, is good around stock, has not been tested with chickens and is good around most other dogs, he can just get a bit growly around other intact young male dogs that like to stir him up. But overall he is very patient and spends a lot of time with our other 8 dogs with no issues.

He is roughly 11 yrs old, is in good health but has some arthritis in his right wrist that flairs up in winter but doesnโ€™t seem to cause him too much grief.

We are only rehoming him as we are moving off a farm and needing to downsize our team of dogs. I would love for him to find a home in Canterbury so I can stay in touch and see him once in a while (if okay with his new owner).

He currently has free range of our property and is just chained up at night. He comes for a walk/run at least once a day with the rest of the team which he loves so it would be great if he found a home where he could still have some freedom and is still taken on adventures. (He has not been trained on a lead but Iโ€™m sure he would be fine on one if needed)

A bit about Chase’s personality:

Chase is a big gentle softy who loves attention and to be included. He loves both human and dog company but also just as much loves having some time to himself.

If you give him a toy, his inner puppy comes out and he will also often play with our young female huntaway. Other than that heโ€™s happy to lie around, soak up the sun or be warm and cosy in a spot made up for him or out and about exploring.

He is a very cruisy dog to have around
