How well does Doug get on with other dogs? Great.

Doug is a 16-month-old heading dog cross. He is eager to please and his fosterer thinks he would be great at agility where he can use his brain, expel some energy and make his owner proud.

Doug can go from ‘dog mode’ to ‘bear mode’ with the raise of his ears and it’s very adorable. Just in looks though – he can’t turn actually into a bear.

He has a very kind nature, excellent recall and does not wander. Doug is currently on a lifestyle property living with three other dogs of all sizes, a cat and six calves and gets on great with them all. He does like to run after the cat sometimes (just to play) and this would stop if the cat just turned around and gave him a swipe but she’s not that kind of cat.

The property has standard seven wire fencing and gates, and he has had no issues with these. He has shown an interest in working stock, but his fosterer would rather he went to a home with a more relaxed lifestyle. Doug would thrive in a home where he was taken on daily walks and had some time to run, he would fit well in a single or multi dog home and where he would get lots of pats.

He likes nothing better than running through the paddock with you nearby or walking next to you – you are the key here; he just loves being with his person.

Doug has not been around children in his current foster home but has been around children prior and is very gentle. He is still learning what are and are not dog toys and sometimes gets confused as to where socks ‘fit in’ because they seem like ‘toy’ but apparently this is not the case (to be fair, if his fosterer put them away it would not be a problem).

He was a bit nervous when he first arrived in foster care but has settled in amazingly well and has been great with meeting new people. He may just take a little extra time when first in his new forever home but once he feels comfortable, there’s no stopping him.

Doug has the best of both worlds now – he has the run of the house during the day and a kennel and run at night. He’s also crate trained, and his fosterer is sure that if you wanted a dog that slept on the bed, Doug would be VERY open to this – we would just recommend a big bed!

Doug is 99% house trained, so by the time is gets to his new home this should all be sorted, he also travels quietly in the back of the car without issue.

Whoever gives Doug his forever home will no doubt get a loyal, gentle, energetic buddy for life that will always be happy to greet you, and they will be lucky to have such a beautiful boy join them.

Doug has been desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and is currently registered.

He has an adoption fee of $350 and, as with all of our foster dogs, we’ll require a vet reference and property inspection prior to adoption.
