How well does Koda get on with other dogs? Great. Koda — The Sweetest Heeler Cross Looking for His Forever Home!
Koda is an 18‑month‑old Heeler cross with a gentle soul, a playful spark, and the kind of markings that make people stop in their tracks. He came off a dairy farm where he decided working life wasn’t for him — what he truly wants is to be someone’s loyal companion.
Since coming into foster care, Koda has shown just how sweet, affectionate, and people‑oriented he really is. He bonds deeply, loves being near his humans, and has a soft, eager‑to‑please nature that makes him a joy to have around.
Koda already has a great foundation: he’s crate trained, toilet trained, travels beautifully in the car, and knows his basic commands with excellent recall. He’s smart, responsive, and loves learning — he just needs someone who will continue to guide him as he grows into adulthood.
He’s wonderful with other dogs, naturally submissive, and happiest when he has a playful canine buddy to hang out with. He has lived with cats in foster care and has been respectful, though he may show interest if they run, so a confident cat or some supervision would be ideal. He’s also lovely with kids, gentle and friendly.
Like any young dog, Koda still needs a few boundaries. He gets excited and may jump up to say hello, and he fancies himself a bit of a gardener — he’ll dig holes if left to his own devices outside. He may take a little time to settle into a new home and can show mild separation anxiety at first, but with routine, reassurance, and company, he settles beautifully.
Koda would thrive in a home with another playful dog, an active lifestyle, and people who enjoy having a loyal shadow. He’s not a working dog — he’s a companion dog through and through, happiest when he’s included, loved, and part of the family.
If you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate, slightly goofy young dog with a whole lot of heart, Koda is ready to meet you.
