About Missy:
Missy is a medium-sized, female Heading Dog, aged 4 years old.
Description:Missy is a beautiful and endearing ex-farm, heading dog. She has been with us for almost 2 years since leaving her farm, and with very heavy hearts that we are hoping to find her a new home. Missy loves long walks, cuddles by the fireplace, is extremely loyal, obedient, and enjoys learning new tricks. She is super enthusiastic and eager to please. She enjoys car rides and travelling new places, and doesn’t mind the occasional bath.
Missy was retired from the farm, due to biting stock, and therefore is not able to return to a farm situation. She still shows extreme interest in any other animals, and will return to her innate behaviour of herding, even with chickens. We currently have chickens, and she loves to herd them all day if she can.
Unfortunately, Missy hasn’t grown up around children, and has shown uncertainty around them. Despite our best efforts to address this behaviour and increase good exposure and experience around children, she still sometimes bares her teeth at them, and has on two occasions, given a light warning bite. We now have a 6 month old boy, and we are not certain that this behaviour can be untrained.
The ideal home for Missy is with someone who does not have young children, is able to give her plenty of attention and exercise, will love her and be able to provide a forever home. We are in no rush to rehome her, as we love her very dearly and want the right home for her.
