Pete is a handsome young Huntaway, approximately 1 year old, with a big heart, plenty of energy, and lots of potential. He’s looking for a rural home where he can continue to learn, grow, and enjoy an active lifestyle. He may even have the makings of a working dog with the right training and guidance.

Pete is fantastic with children of all ages, although he can be a little boisterous at times, so supervision around smaller children is recommended. He’s also great with other dogs and good around stock, making him well suited to a lifestyle block or rural property. Chickens are still an unknown.

When meeting new people, Pete can be a little shy and anxious initially, but he warms up quickly and reveals his true nature, a sweet, affectionate boy who absolutely loves attention. Once he trusts you, he’ll happily soak up all the attention you can give.

Pete has great recall and walks on a lead, although his excitement sometimes gets the better of him when there’s an adventure to be had. He’s a very energetic young dog who will need regular exercise and mental stimulation to help him thrive.

He’s an outside dog at present as not currently toilet trained. If left alone for extended periods he will bark. While it’s unclear how he travels in a car, he’s perfectly comfortable travelling in a dog box.

Pete’s present carers describe him as a very loving and sweet boy who simply wants to be loved in return. With his enthusiasm, intelligence, he could be a wonderful companion for an active rural family willing to invest some time in his training.

We are looking for a foster to adopt situation just until Pete has been desexed. Then it will be full adoption.
