|To our amazing community|So many of you have got involved in our work recently, sharing comments online, and we thank you for that.It comes up a lot where people are asking why do farmers rehome their dogs that have worked a long time for them. Shaming farmers for rehoming their dogs needs to stop. We need farmers to feel safe to reach out to rehome their dogs, creating a great outcome and a lovely home for any retired working dog, for any reason. The negativity is also pretty tough on our volunteers managing unkind comments while working hard to rehome. We LOVE the support we have and this community - we hope we can all continue to work constructively to see more RETIRED WORKING DOGS 🐾 To find retired working dogs for adoption: https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/To donate to help us meet costs: https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/donate-and-support/

📌Dust has found his retirement home💓Dusty is a much loved 10 year old heading dog who has been part of his owners working dog team for 8 1/2 years and has regularly competed in sheep dog trials (long-head, short-head, Tux yarding). As he is slowing down on the hills but still keen to work sheep they would love him to find a forever home on a small farm or lifestyle block where he can still gently work sheep and also be loved in his retirement. Dusty has great bloodlines and has sired pups so has not been desexed, however he is a placid lad. His new home will be fully vetted as he is a very special dog and he deserves the best.Contact his loving owners via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/dusty-te-awamutu/

Tea and Runa were hunting dogs. They have been with Pet Refuge learning new skills, playing and being loved in a caring environment after being rescued from an abusive situation. They are very command driven, used to being around other dogs and both love to run. Soft natured and affectionate. They deserve to be loved and ideally, as they are lifelong friends deserve to be together forever. 💓🥰Contact details are within the links below each:Tea is a 5 yo wired haired GSP, a warm and friendly dog, has only one eye, and loves to run. A very affectionate dog and happiest when she is around humans. Excellent with children.https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/tea-amberley/Runa is a 6 yo Border Collie X, a very shy girl, although when she warms to you is an affectionate and loving dog. Bounce is a lovely 7 year old brindle huntaway. She has done her time working big country and now gets a bit sore after a big day. She loves pottering around doing easy work and handles this well, but equally loves being a deck dog which she is great at. She loves life, is always happy to see you and be involved in any and all activities. She fits in well anywhere and will be an amazing retiree. She’s very friendly, always happy and very easy to have around, great with kids and babies, other dogs, stock, horses, cats etc. Bounce has earned her retirement but would enjoy pottering around a lifestyle block.. Her owners would prefer a home that is mainly pet/deck dog duties for Bounce. Contact them below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/bounce-gisborne/
