A bit about Sam’s personality:

Meet Sam – A big girl for big cuddles!
At 7 years old, Sam is a stunning Huntaway with a heart every bit as big as she is. Gentle, affectionate, and incredibly devoted, her favourite place in the world is right by your side.
Sam was purchased as a puppy with the plan for her to become a working dog, the furthest she got was helping out around the yards and spending time with her people. These days, she’s looking for a home where she can simply be a beloved family companion.
This lovely girl has fantastic recall, walks beautifully both on and off lead, and naturally stays close to her person. She’s been around cats, chickens, goats, sheep, horses, and pigs and has shown little interest in any of them. She is also wonderful with children, taking treats with the gentlest touch and showing the same sweet nature with everyone she meets.
Sam gets along beautifully with other dogs and would love a canine friend to share life with. While she’s calm and easy-going, she’d thrive in a home with space to stretch her legs—whether that’s a lifestyle block or a home with a large, secure backyard. An active family who enjoys walks, outings, and adventures would be perfect for her, especially if they include water!
Like any good Huntaway, Sam has a big bark, but she mainly saves it for moments of excitement or when she’s enthusiastically exploring her surroundings. She travels wonderfully in the car, sitting quietly and patiently, always ready for the next adventure.
In 2024, Sam broke her left rear leg. Thankfully, it healed beautifully and causes her no issues whatsoever. She runs, plays, explores, and enjoys life just like any other dog, and unless you were told about it, you’d never know she’d ever had an injury.
Although Sam lived as an outside dog before coming into foster care, she’s quickly discovered how wonderful indoor life can be. She’s now happiest curled up near her people, soaking up all the love and companionship she can get. The only thing that unsettles her is loud noises, including thunder and heavy rain, when she’ll appreciate a little extra reassurance.
If you’re looking for a devoted best friend, a cuddle companion, and a gentle soul to share life’s adventures with, Sam could be the perfect addition to your family

Sam is speyed, vaccinated and microchipped and will be registered before rehoming. As with all of our foster dogs, Sam has an adoption fee of $350 and we will require property inspections and vet references from potential adopters.
