About Spy:

Spy is a medium-sized, male Border Collie X, aged 3 years old.

Description:

Spy is a true working dog. Needs a job to do, loyal, always watching what you’re doing. Due to a change in circumstances with a job working six months of the year overseas, I’m looking for a more stable home for Spy. I live with him on my own, but he would suit life with another female dog with lots of energy. I live in urban Nelson and spy does well, but we tramp and trail run and keep active, so he’s always stimulated. Would be good if his new home was an active household. He will happily do a multi-day tramp. He rides in a bicycle trailer happily.

Is Spy used to children? Yes.
Is Spy used to cats? Don’t know.
Is Spy toilet-trained? Yes.
Is Spy used to stock? Don’t know.
Is Spy used to chickens? Yes.
How well does Spy get on with other dogs? OK.
Spy lives in Nelson, .
A bit about Spy’s personality:

Spy is curious and keen to learn new things. He walks 95% of the time lead free in the hills and trails around Nelson. He always stays close. He’s quiet, but will bark when strangers come to the door. He will chase cats if they run, but when a cat stands it’s ground or swipes at him, he backs off pretty quickly. He hasnt been around cats, but I’m certain he’d learn the rules very quickly. He’s VERY interested in stock and would need some experienced handling around sheep, cattle, horses. I’ve seen him “herd’ but he never hurts or bites anything. I always keep him on a lead when we encounter sheep, and if the sheep don’t run, he will walk past them without incident. That said, if anyone had experience with dog herding training, Spy would be stubborn, hard work, but a capable herding dog student?
