Meet Taco (also has been known as Gus) – Our Three-Legged Legend Looking for His Forever Home
Taco is proof that resilience comes in four paws… or in his case, three. This special boy came into foster care after being hit by a ute while at work, resulting in the amputation of one of his rear legs. Despite everything he has been through, Taco has recovered incredibly well and lives life to the absolute fullest.
In fact, most of the time you wouldn’t even know Taco is missing a leg — apart from the occasional little trip-up when he gets moving too fast!
Taco is a social, happy boy who absolutely adores people and other dogs. He is currently fostered with another playful dog and would thrive in a home with a similar canine companion who enjoys fun and games. He is also great with cats and gets along beautifully with other animals.
Taco does need some boundaries around children, as he can play-nip when he gets excited, but is happily fostered with young dog-savy kids.
He is a clever boy too — Taco sleeps happily in a kennel overnight, is crate trained, and is toilet trained indoors. He is still working on the basics like commands, recall, and lead walking, but he is improving every day as he adjusts to life on three legs.
Taco has puppy energy, a huge heart, and a zest for life that nothing can slow down. His missing leg certainly doesn’t define him or hold him back. He may even be suited to part-time farm or lifestyle block work in the right environment (just not steep or hilly country).
Most importantly, Taco deserves a home that sees how special he truly is — one that will continue his training, love him endlessly, and give him the life he deserves.
If you think Taco could be the missing piece in your family, get in touch. We’ll be searching for only the very best home for this precious boy.
