This is Tank, he is an 8 year old Huntaway and has worked very hard mustering on the big hills his whole life. As much as his owners would love too keep him forever, he deserves to retire somewhere away from a busy farm. It is unfair to him to keep around seeing everything happening on the farm as he gets jealous and anxious watching other dogs go to work when he cant keep up with the young guns anymore. Other than not being young and fit enough to keep up with the high energy required on farm, Tank is very healthy and would make a great pet on fenced in semi rural quiet property. Something to be aware of is Tank is an extremely large dog and bigger than other Huntaways, hes very tall and is about 45kg at a guess. He loves the company of humans and will follow you around. He also really loves the company of the other the working dogs. At first he can be timid and shy when meeting new dogs/humans, but he means no harm and just needs plenty of pats and food to come around. He is absolute definition of gentle giant. He spends the majority of his time lounging on the deck in the sun with his working mates, but he does sometimes like to wander so a fenced in section would be best. He really, really deserves a quiet relaxing life now, easy walks and plenty of human contact. He loves riding in the boot of the car!! He can jump up to the boot of the car but can longer jump onto something higher like a ute deck. Bea is a BEAutiful Heading dog cross, 1 year old. Unfortunately she throws more to the cross and not the heading dog so would suit a pet going forward. She has a lovely nature and loves people. She has not experienced being around small children but is great with everyone she has met.Bea is full of BEAns. She is active and loving, she lives outside in a kennel at night but loves to come inside for cuddles. Food driven so great for training. She has recall and sit (mostly!).If you are interested in giving Bea a loving forever home contact her owners via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/bea-athol/

Elderly Lady, 10 years old, is looking for a quiet retirement home! !Lady is a beautiful white Greyhound cross that was once a pig hunting dog. Now in her old age she loves sleeping most of the day, eating, and car rides and the occasional walk. She is a quiet old lady who is good with cats, chickens, stock, and other dogs, and is toilet trained. She doesnt love kids due to her love of peace and quiet. Her owners have 3 of them and they feel Lady would be much happier in a quieter home for her last year or so with someone who would love to give her treats and let her sleep inside on a comfy bed. She is the easiest dog you will ever meet.Contact her owners via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/lady-greytown/

Peg is a 9 year old Huntaway, semi-retired working dog looking for her retirement home, ideally a lifestyle block with a little bit of work as she still has plenty of up and go. She is trained on whistles. She does have mammary cancer but is still happy and not in pain, considering she had cancer removed 2 years ago (fixed at the same time) we have been advised it will keep coming back so looking for somewhere she can relax and live out her life. She can be left off the chain and never wanders, loves going for daily runs and sunbathing under the trees. To find our more about Peg, contact her owner via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/peg-lumsden/

Meet Sam, a 9-year-old retired Huntaway from Feilding whoโ€™s ready to find his forever home. This gentle soul isnโ€™t here to lead the pack โ€“ heโ€™s here to follow you around, soak up attention, and be your best friend. Sam loves older kids, gets along with other dogs, and is even okay with chickens (though he might โ€œborrowโ€ a fresh egg or two!).A little hard of hearing? Maybe โ€“ but Sam learns fast and responds well to whistles with a bit of practice. His only quirk is a slight leg issue, easily managed with supplements, but it doesnโ€™t slow him down one bit.Sam is looking for a secure, quiet home where he can relax and bond with his human. If youโ€™re ready for unconditional love, gentle companionship, and a dog who just wants to be near you, Sam could be your perfect match.

Beau is a LARGE 4 year old heading dog - would suit goat mustering/station/bull farms . Needs an experienced owner. Not suited to a lifestyle block or a lack of work.Beau is a bit of a difficult lad!Heโ€™s come on in leaps and bounds with manners over the time his owner has had him. He no longer flies out of the kennel, will now โ€œget in โ€œ and walk next to you. Wait for his dinner and ignores the cat and kid โ€œa bit better โ€œ. Heโ€™s a reactive lad and highly strung at home, which did him no favours out mustering. He comes with his commands, hes been on cattle and sheep. With the hard work of some decent hills and someone willing to keep on top of his progress in manners, he will turn out to be a great guy!Find out more about Beau and contact his owner via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/beau-te-kuiti/

Adorable goofball Sam is a 6 year old Huntaway who has had a great working life as his owners first fully broken in huntaway. He doesnโ€™t have the prettiest style but could always be counted to get the job done. Last year Sam showed signs of being lame, which ended in some hard to swallow news, his working life had come to an end. Attempted to retire Sam to the porch but the boy will run kmโ€™s if he hears the bosses whistle, itโ€™s a serious case of fomo. Thereโ€™s no lack of loyalty when it comes to Sam, he will push his every limit to please his owner. He needs someone to be his best mate, he gets along great with other dogs but itโ€™s his owner who is his be all and end all.If youve got a great retirement place for Sam and want a devoted companion, contact his owners below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/sam-masterton-2/

๐Ÿ˜ADOPTED๐Ÿ˜ Lady is a lovely natured dog who is very obedient, and very loyal. She is a 4 year old heading dog who has been with her owners since a pup but has to work alongside other dogs to work with sheep and is now surplus to requirements, she can work cattle pretty well by herself, she is more a handy dog than a straight heading dog, but with her kind nature would also make a fantastic pet.To find our more about Lady contact her owners via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/lady-waikari/

Tuke is a stunning Huntaway X pup, 8 months old.Her caring owner is desperately trying to find her a rural working home to suit her breed. She acquired her from family friends who tried keeping her in a residential property but she needs a much bigger space and a job to do hence obviously got too much for them. Tuke came from a hunting family but further information about her background is unavailable unfortunately. She is very energetic but also very friendly and enjoys people. She is ok with other dogs but can be leash aggressive and so is much better off lead. If you can give this beautiful girl the forever home she deserves and bring out her potential please contact her owner via the link below:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/tuke-lower-hutt/

The retired working dog is described as affectionate, loyal, and great with children.Zeke would do best in a pet-free household, as he is not friendly with other dogs and has not been socialized with cats or chickens. A lifestyle block or rural property is preferred, allowing him space to enjoy the outdoors safely. He has an old shoulder injury, giving him a slightly unusual gait, but veterinary checks confirm he is pain-free and healthy.
