1-Year-Old Border Collie | Clever, Loyal & Ready for Adventure
Kiwi is an absolutely amazing dog, and any owner would be lucky to have her. She’s highly intelligent, affectionate, and thrives when she has a job to do, not interested in sheep work though.
About Kiwi:
Kiwi is a 1-year-old Border Collie who follows her people everywhere. She’s crate and kennel trained, adores evening cuddles on the couch, and will happily trade tricks for belly rubs and cheese.
She can be shy with new men at first but warms up beautifully once she knows them. She’ll alert bark at strangers until properly introduced. Kiwi has been around older children and does well, though her energy may be a bit much for very young kids. She’s used to stock, cats, and chickens — she may try to herd them, but won’t harm them. While she’s been raised around stock, she doesn’t have the drive to work them as a job.
Training & Activities:
Kiwi is smart, biddable, and already has a great foundation:
– Obedience: Rock-solid sit-stay and setup. Reliable recall, though we’re still proofing around high distractions
– Agility: Loves channel weaves and runs them beautifully. Can manage a smaller channel, but weaves are currently widened while she recovers from her spay. Can do basic sequences. Only on small jumps until 18 months old and fully recovered
– Next steps: Building more obedience and introducing crossovers
Kiwi definitely needs a job to be happy. She shows little interest in scent sports, but agility or flyball would be her ideal outlet.
Dog Social Skills:
Kiwi is good with calm, confident dogs. She can be pushy with nervous or reactive dogs — posturing over or near them — so she’d suit a home that can manage her social style or pair her with the right canine mate.
Ideal Home:
Kiwi would thrive in an active home that can give her both mental and physical exercise every day. She needs someone who understands clever, sensitive collies and is keen to continue her training in agility, flyball, or other active dog sports. In return, you’ll get a loyal shadow, adventure buddy, and world-class snuggler.
Think you could be Kiwi’s perfect match?
