About Gin:
Gin is a large, female Huntaway, aged 9 years old.
Description:Gin is a 9-year-old female Huntaway.
Gin has a been used as a sheep and cattle working dog her entire life. She’s a bit of a loose cannon at work. Even at 9 years old, she’s simply too enthusiastic! In the right hands, she may be a suitable dog for an experienced handler for mustering. Unfortunately, because of this she spends too much time in the kennels, which isn’t fair, so we are looking to rehome her to a good home. She would make a wonderful companion dog.
In general, she is a healthy dog. Last year she had a couple of masses removed from her mammary glands. While the operation appears to be a success and she has been great since, the potential for more masses to appear should be considered.
Is Gin used to cats? Don’t know.
Is Gin toilet-trained? No.
Is Gin used to stock? Yes.
Is Gin used to chickens? Yes.
How well does Gin get on with other dogs? Great.
Gin lives in Hastings, .
A bit about Gin’s personality:
Gin has a calm, happy and relaxed demeanour when out and about. She will happily follow you around and be happy to just hang out with you, with whatever you are doing.
She loves pats, and wrestling sticks off you. She has the softest ears! She loves food and has a big appetite. She should be fed separately to other dogs as she can be a bit competitive around food time.
She follows commands well (unless working stock!), with good recall, speak (bark) + quiet commands, sit, stay and other basic commands.
She gets on really well with other dogs. She isn’t used to children regularly but has been perfectly friendly to any visiting children.
She is afraid of loud noises (particularly banging such as fireworks) and can be a bit of a drama queen when going to the vets!
