Accepting dogs from the pound

How Can We Help?

Young working breed dogs from the pound need careful consideration before being accepted into foster. These dogs often have behavioural issues that have led to them either roaming or being unclaimed in the first place. The likely process will be for them to undergo a behavioural assessment before fostering in an experienced ‘natural’ home. Until they are proven to be safe in a variety of environments, only the cost of the basics (vaccination/microchip/flea/worm treatment) will be expended.

Older working breeds may be unclaimed because their owner believes them to be lost or deceased, or too old to work, and so go unclaimed. These dogs are often good natured and are more likely to be successfully rehomed than young pound dogs (based on previous experience).
