About Vikki:
Vikki is a small, female Heading Dog X, aged 10 years old.
Description:Hi, I’m Vikki. I’m a 10-year-old small heading dog.
I live on a farm in Takapau, in central Hawkes Bay.
I’ve sure worked hard over the years – but I’ve loved my job.
I’ve had a lot on my plate – 5,000 sheep to be exact!
My farmer thinks it’s time I kicked back now and embraced a quieter pace.
She thinks I’ll take to pampered pet life like a duck to water!
I may not know much about balls or dog toys but the pet instincts are strong in me!
Like knowing to sit on the couch, in front of the fan, on a sweltering day!
I also know the kitchen means FOOD! The best room in the house!
And, while we’re on the subject, what’s with the fussy eaters round the place?
I’ll take anything on offer, thank you!
I love my beef bones and raw meat. Biscuits are a little hard on the teeth these days.
If my farmer is going out, we make a deal. I tell her, “If you’re heading off this evening, I won’t hold it against you.
Just make sure my meal’s served before you go. In return, I’ll be a good girl in my kennel.”
My farmer’s hoping to find me a loving retirement home – with a sunny spot I can laze round in – preferably with a human home, for company.
I’m a little shy with new people, especially males, but I’ll be fine, given a little time and patience.
I’d also be happy moving a few sheep, on a lifestyle block!
I don’t ask for much in life. Just chuck me a bone to chew and I’m as happy as a pig in the mud!
My farmer says I’m a pleasure to have round the place and I “deserve the world” for my retirement.
She thinks I’d be happiest sharing my home with another cruisy dog.
I’ve always been around others like me, so I’d still love that company.
I’ve met chickens, cats, horses – and of course, cattle and sheep. I’m great with everyone!
I’ve also spent a lot of time around children. The little people are GREAT!
Oh, I must tell you, my new home would need to be fully fenced.
You see, I’m a social girl, and without fencing, I’ll wander off to go make new friends.
I wouldn’t want to get bowled by a car, just being my social butterfly self!
I’m happy taking it easy but, when I see cattle round the house, my unwavering work ethic kicks into overdrive.
My farmer tells me, “No Vikki, come on, you DON’T have to help anymore. Relax now!”
When work’s not tempting me, I’m cruisy as.
I’m somewhat of a velcro dog. I tend to follow my farmer round like a bad smell!
I’ve also mastered the ‘can-I-have-some-food-now’ stare, which seems to be getting results!
I’m very gentle taking food too. I’ll never snatch it out of your hand.
My farmer says I’m a special girl. I’m also a little pigeon-toed, which I just think makes me more distinctive.
I have no lameness either. Still perfectly mobile enough to follow you round, hoping for a snack!
You know what? I’m a really quiet girl too. I never bark!
I’m very low maintenance in general!
I can’t figure out this cushy bed thing. I put my foot on it and it bounces back again!
I don’t even like blankets. I pull them out of my kennels. I won’t have a bar of it!
Did I tell you I’m a big fan of swimming?
Even at my age, I’ll take myself off to a trough for a dip with the other dogs.
My farmer wanted me to let you know I’m all up to date with my vaccinations and that I’m not spayed.
Because my farmer only wants the best for me, she’d like to trial me in my new home.
She’s secretly hoping I’ll find a wonderful place in the Hawkes Bay area.
She’d love to hear updates on how I’m settling in too!
I’m an adaptable girl, that adjusts well to change, so I should do fine in my new home.
So if you’re looking for a cruisy easy-going friend – that’s guaranteed to make you smile every day – remember the name Vikki!
