About Athena:

Athena is a large, female Maremma sheepdog, aged 4 years old.

Description:

Athena was my wife’s dog but unfortunately she passed away. I’m very busy and I cannot give her the time she deserves. Living in the garden and walking on a leash is not what this kind of dog needs.
Very intelligent and independent dog, hard to train. This is not a common dog and for this reason the new owner needs to be someone who knows this breed and able to manage it.
She does not need another environment like mine but an open space like a farm. These dogs are very good with livestock, for sure Athena kept the instinct but she wasn’t trained. Maybe other Maremma’s can teach her. I will not describe the dog’s features because, as I’ve stated I will consider only those who know the breed with a proper environment available.

Is Athena used to children? Yes.
Is Athena used to cats? No.
Is Athena toilet-trained? Yes.
Is Athena used to stock? Don’t know.
Is Athena used to chickens? No.
How well does Athena get on with other dogs? OK.
Athena lives in Auckland, North Island.
A bit about Athena’s personality:

Athena is territorial, her space need to be respected. She do not like to be touched suddenly or without her wanting. She like spent most of the time in a place with a view of the surrounding area. A truly friendly dog but must be handled firmly to avoid unexpected behaviours.
