It's been a long day at the Fair so Charlie and Jill are giving the hoomans a quick break.
Hello dog lovers. If you are in Martinborough this weekend we will be back at the Martinborough Fair - craft fair and market on Saturday. A shout out and giant thank you to South Wairarapa Rotary for the spot. We have some more goodies to raffle including our very pupular hamper (much appreciated by our last winners) and a $100 voucher for Smack Bang a barking good pet boutique in central Wellington. We will be on Texas St opposite the Mitre 10 car park and we would love to chat to you about what we do and, if it isn't too hot, we always love to see our Retired Working Dog graduates if you live nearby. Please don't take your dogs around the Fair though - it can be very busy.
UPDATE: an incredibly generous human has covered this gorgeous girl's surgery costs! We are truly grateful. If you are interested in potentially fostering her then please email retired.workingdogs@gmail.com ❤️A wonderful team in the Taranaki have taken on Miss, a 2yo working dog who needs a forelimb amputation after sustaining a severe injury. She won't be able to go back to her previous career but would love a home on a lifestyle block! We're looking for a potential foster home for Miss, and if anyone is able to donate towards her surgery we would be very appreciative, especially in these tougher times! Please head to our website if you are able to help out: www.retiredworkingdogs.org.nz ❤️
Loyal, gentle Bess is looking for a semi-retirement home where she can still keep active and feel useful.https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/bess-pongaroa-pahiatua/
Gloria is super cute, eager to learn new things, and very clever. She is looking for an active home that will keep her mind busy.https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/gloria-taumarunui/
🐾Looking for a foster or forever home 🐾Elliot hasn’t made the cut as a working dog, so now he’s on the hunt for an active pet lifestyle.Currently in temporary foster in Whanganui, we’d love to talk to you if you’d be interested in offering him an all expenses paid (by us) stay at your place in longer term foster, or if you’d like to meet him and see if he’d fit as your family member.Elliot is affectionate and eager to please. He enjoys playing with other dogs but sometimes misses social cues with other male dogs and can be pushy. Female dogs seem to love him!Would not put a foot wrong in front of you with stock or chooks, but could potentially get carried away if no one was watching, so for this reason we’d prefer he went somewhere away from temptation. He’d love to be someone’s running buddy, go for weekend adventures and get out regularly for walks. If you could offer a foster home in the lower north island, or a forever home anywhere in the country, please email Natalie at retired.workingdogs@gmail.comhttps://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/elliot-whanganui/

🐾🐾🐾Happy February dog lovers - here are some of the lovely dogs that found new furever homes in January. We have close to 70 more still looking 😢. These dogs are usually friendly, loyal and smart, and, if they're retiring from the farm, they are well trained and adapt quickly to pet life. Maybe your new best mate is waiting for you here: https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/
🐾🐾🐾2023 RWD Calendars🐾🐾🐾It's the last day of January and you know what that means? Yes a new Calendar dog tomorrow! Meet Bessie. ***😍ADOPTED🥳*** Cap has a lovely new home.URGENT Poor old Cap is a bit stressed where he is right now. He's happy with his current people and a couple of the other dogs on the farm but he's not doing so well in the larger pack. He would love a retirement home where he's the only dog or maybe with another female. His current owners are looking after him rather than rehome him multiple times but would love to find him his forever home: https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/cap-gisborne/
《RWD FOSTER DOG》BEAR - 4 YEARS OLD - MALE - HUNTAWAY X BEARDIE - LOCATED IN PAHIATUAIf you are looking for a big, kindhearted goofball to complete your family, then look no further than Bear. Described by his foster family as “honest and affectionate”, Bear is just a giant teddy.Bear is a bit of an all rounder, he gets along with dogs, cats, sheep, geese, turkey, you name it. He does get into a bit of mischief if left for long periods of time, digging holes, stealing boots, but he will make up for this with his loyalty and love. If you would like to show interest in Bear, please email retired.workingdogs@gmail.com or check out his link here: https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/bear-pahiatua/

《RWD FOSTER DOG》Who wants a new best mate? Then why don't you adopt Ace!! Ace is a year old and a male Heading Dog. He is such a dude! Loves hanging with his people and is great with other dogs he has met. He is so cool that he likes to hang out at bunnings so he can meet lots of people that will give him all the pats. He is learning new things every day and has come so far in foster. He does have a bit of a medical condition, but don't let this scare you off. This should clear up as he gets older and stronger. Read all about it in the link below. We are looking for a home that will keep on top of his medical issue (with over the counter supplements) and make sure he rests when needed. He has shown interest in cats, so preferably a cat free home or someone very confident in setting boundaries with him.Check out some videos of him in the comments section.Fostered in Feilding but out of region homes are considered. If you would like to show interest in Ace, please email retired.workingdogs@gmail.com or check out his link here:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/ace-feilding/

ADOPTED! 💕🐾Jupp is a happy, playful, young boy who is showing early signs of arthritis, which isn't causing him any issues day to day, but he means he can't work. UPDATE: Boy is off to his new home in Tolaga Bay!Thank you so much to everyone who offered their help, shared his post or tagged a friend.Amazing work team! All the best in your new life Boy ❤️🐾❗️URGENT❗️Boy is at the Taupō District Council Pound and unfortunately has until Sunday to find a home, we have no available foster homes for him, so can't take him into our care. Can one of our RWD community offer him a forever home?UPDATE 25/11: We have spoken with the Pound this morning, if someone is able to commit to taking Boy then they will transfer him into RWD care and hold him while we organise transport to you.He is lovely with people, was very timid when he arrived but has come out of his shell a lot. Once he trusts you he is very affectionate.Boy would love a rural home for the space, but that would need to be an experienced rural home as the pound is unsure how he would be with other animals. A residential home would be fine (maybe more suitable) as long as he was getting lots of exercise.Boy has not been able to be run with other dogs at the pound but has met them through the enclosures and has seemed fine. As he has been in care for over a month now, he is starting to kennel guard with other dogs. Please email retired.workingdogs@gmail.com if you think you might be able to help Boy. Alternatively, please call the pound directly between 10am and 12pm if you could take Boy.Thank you 🐾❤Boy is a 2 year old Heading, Border Collie cross (possibly pigdog type) with a sweet personality. They are looking for a rural home for him where he can thrive.Call the pound on 07 376 0899 or pop into the pound 12pm to 2pm tomorrow (or contact them to book a time).Taupō District Adopt a Dog Video in the comments and more information in his post:https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=438632741790011&id=100069298656129&mibextid=Nif5oz

*** ADOPTED 😍🐾 ***🧡 Gorgeous Cruise is still looking for his new home! Get in touch with his owner 🧡Cruise has not yet shown any interest in working, despite being well bred. 《RWD FOSTER DOG》Chase has been under RWD the longest out of any of our foster dogs. Being in care since February he is definitely ready to find his forever home.A 2.5 year old male Heading dog, Chase is a shy boy and needs a special home that can cater to his sensitive nature. He gets on great with all dogs and can happily live with cats, chooks and stock. Chase can spook easily so would need to be kept behind some good fencing or a nice dog run when he’s not hanging with his humans. We are looking for a rural home for Chase that ideally has another confident dog to help him come out of his shell even more. The home needs to have patience and be willing to understand what Chase needs.Video of Chase in the comments section.Fostered in Feilding but out of region homes are considered. If you would like to show interest in Chase, please email retired.workingdogs@gmail.com or check out his link here:https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/chase-feilding/

For the right family, Lady will make a fantastic pet and adventure buddy.https://retiredworkingdogs.org.nz/dogs-for-adoption/lady-masterton/
《RWD FOSTER DOG》Tawny is currently in foster and ready to find her forever home! And isn't see adorable?!Just under a year old, Tawny is a mixed breed female that was bred for pig hunting but was never trained up for it. She is doing so well in foster, she is clever and very trainable. She loves all people and plays very gently with small humans. She gets on well with other dogs, except sometimes when she is on a lead she can get over excited, but this is being worked on. She is currently being fostered with a rescue puppy and they play really nicely together and she is helping with the pups confidence. Loves to play chase with the pet sheep down the fence line and is super good with the chickens. She is still learning because she’s a baby, her recall is not 100% but has improved. We would love to find her a home with some kids to go on adventures with, and a playful dog buddy. She’s medium energy, loves a good run but is not a dog who needs to be out there doing it all day.
