About Rusty:

Rusty is a large, male Huntaway, aged 9 years old.

Description:

Hi, I’m Rusty. I’m a 9-year-old huntaway – a gentle giant – living on a farm in Cheviot.

I’ve been on my farm since I was a wee pup.

Up till recently, I’ve been working sheep and cattle on my farm.

It’s safe to say that, outside of work, I’m a lovable guy!

If we’re friends, I’ll come up and shove my ribs into your knees and push myself against you – nearly knocking you over!

I’m wonderful round children and when new people come to my farm, there IS the real danger I’ll lick them to death!

I’m passionate about many things.

I eat like a HORSE, for one thing.

But I work off the extra calories with swimming!

I’ll take myself off for a dip in the trough or nearby creek anytime the mood strikes.

I have some arthritis in my hips and legs, which means I can’t jump or run too fast anymore – so wading round in the water’s the BEST thing out for me!

Currently, I’m living with 11 other working dogs and we’re great mates!

My farmer says I’m a “chilled out guy that’s never rated himself as top dog.”

With sheep around, I’m still driven to jump in and help – but I’m learning the body can’t do what it once could.

I get a little wobbly and sore afterwards.

The other day my farmer sat me down for a chat.

She’d like me to start taking it easy now.

She’s hoping to find me only the BEST of rural homes, where I can laze around, chew bones in the sun, swim and embrace my life’s passions – without the temptation to work.

I do tend to wander round the explore, so it’s best I’m fenced away from traffic.

My farmer says that, sadly, I’m not a city slicker, so the hustle and bustle of a town home would be too overwhelming for me.

I’d be happy sharing my place with other doggies but, equally, I’d be fine living solo too – more knees available to lean against!

I’d be on my best behaviour living with chickens. I’m very used to being round them.

My farmer thinks I’d be fine around cats. I’ve lived with one but never been close to it.

She thinks, if it ran, I might want to chase it but I’m not much of a speed demon these days, so no worries there!

I’m well-loved round these parts and my farmer will be sad to say goodbye.

She’s hoping to trial me in my new home first – to make sure I’m the right fit.

Oh, she wanted me to let you know I’m not fixed.

So, if you’re looking for a cruisy country-loving guy – that adores children and a wade in the water – why not welcome ME into your life?
