About Drum:

Drum is a large 2-year-old male huntaway.

Description:

Hi, I’m Drum – a big hunk of a huntaway, just over 2-years-old – living on a 57-acre farm in Manawatu.

I’ve been living here for the past year.

I’m a man with some serious talent.

I love my work. I can never WAIT to get started!

I have a ‘left’ and a ‘right’ but I’m still working on my ‘stop.’

My farmer needs to call it loudly.

Sadly, she’s now given up shepherding, so there’s not a lot of work for me on the farm.

She’s hoping to find me a great new home – a place where a young man like me can stay ultra-active.

I currently live with cats, chickens and horses. We all get along fine!

When my farmer’s out with the horses, I just happily tag along.

My fellow working dogs are my good mates too!

As much as I’d suit being someone’s running buddy in town, I do LOVE to bark!

My bark is a big deep one – perfect for the huntaway fans out there.

In fact, as soon as I SEE my farmer first thing in the morning, I’ll bop up and down and start getting those barks out!

Afterall, in the morning, we’re heading off to work – woohoo!

I’m excellent with sheep; however, I’m a soft-natured boy.

If cattle turn on me, I don’t stand my ground, like my mates on the team.

Instead, I’ll retreat.

You see, the thing is, I may APPEAR an outgoing guy but if my farmer raises her voice or holds a stick in the air, I’ll cower down and run in between her legs.

She’d like to find a really nice home with kind people that understand this about me.

She says, despite my timidness at times, I’m “good as” with people – even the tiny ones.

When I’m feeling affectionate, I tend to lean on you, often forgetting my BIG size.

I’m great when new people visit too! I’m a social boy with strangers.

I’m a big water lover. I’ll take myself off to a trough whenever the urge strikes me!

Before we go any further though, there is ONE unfortunate habit I seem to have picked up, that you should ALL know about…

I will poo in my food or water bowl – whichever happens to be there.

My farmer has no idea why.

But, when she comes to take my empty bowl away, there’s usually a surprise in it.

She’s hopeful that I’ll eventually grow out of this weird routine I have.

Oh, and she wanted me to let you know that I’m not fixed.

So, if you’re looking for a lively lad, with a real zest for life, why not make me a part of yours?
